5 Runway Rompers So Unique They Don’t Even Look Like Rompers

Published:

Runway rompers in vogue, and it’s glorious.

For some of you, it might be hard to wrap your head around why men would want to wear men’s rompers to look like adult babies. But for others (including us), it’s an interesting and fresh trend going on in men’s fashion that’s severely spicing things up: Runway rompers.

Since we’ve already seen basic romper styles go viral, fashion designers are pushing the envelope more than ever to develop the most unique men’s rompers. The majority of designers are taking a creative idea and adding their own unique twist to the romper trend. And they’re doing it in an insanely fashionable way, like mixing velvet and leather or military and grunge.

What started as plain rompers in solid colors or basic patterns has now sprouted into a full-blown romper extravaganza as seen on runways around the world. Check out the most bizarrely fashionable runway rompers that you’ll have to see to believe.

1. Army Romper by Ports 1961 (Spring 2016 Menswear)

Ports 1961’s Spring 2016 collection delivered yet another unique take to men’s runway rompers. This collection added all the elements of surf-and-skate fashion to an elevated and luxury brand. The looks were indicative of a bad Cali boy with a chic, utilitarian twist, which was especially evident in this army green romper. Moreover, Nick Wooster was rocking it. Need we say more? It has just the right amount of oversized with a cool, asymmetrical zipper.

2. Leather Romper by KTZ (Spring 2017 Menswear)

Besides the fact that this runway romper was styled to perfection, its unique design was made with the most timeless fabric – leather! KTZ hosted their Spring 2017 collection in a warehouse normally used as a gay bar. Thus, it’s no surprise the venue completely matched the essence of this collection. The Spring 2017 KTZ collection mixed fetish gear with urban streetwear. Mesh, leather and chains came together to create this leather romper with a heavy nod to S&M.

3. Polo Romper by Raf Simons (Spring 2014 Menswear)

This polo romper takes the classic polo shirt to the next level. In order to create a cohesive collection, Raf Simons combined chunky color-blocking with billowy silhouettes. It gave off the impression of children’s fashion for grown-ups. Of course, this too-cool-for-school romper was the first piece to debut the show. With the combination of rompers, longline t-shirts, and colorful energy, the collection really added a new twist to men’s fashion as Raf Simons usually does.

4. Puffer-Jacket Romper by Mr. Gentleman (F/W 2014-2015 Menswear)

This puffer-jacket romper was actually one of three men’s rompers in this collection, but this one stole the show. It was layered over a bomber, sweater, and button up, which is exactly how you’d wear any normal puffer jacket. Mr. Gentleman featured cool layering as a recurring theme by playing around with different fabrics in each look. As a result, it created a colorful-yet-modest menswear collection.

5. Trench-Coat Runway Romper by Louis Vuitton (Spring 2015 Menswear)

Yeah, that’s right. Louis Vuitton has hopped on the romper bandwagon. This trench-coat romper with long sleeves gave a unique and elegant twist to the classic men’s romper, especially with its soft, suede finish. This spring collection was filled with seventies-inspired colors and materials with attention to detail. Each outfit gave off that refined, tailored look. Everything from the fabric to the double-breasted pockets to the belt made this pure luxury.
